Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Roth

I direct the Secure Identity Group. My research focus is in the area of information systems security, with a particular interest in secure identity and psychological acceptability of security mechanisms. I am exploring security mechanism designs that are as simple as possible (but not simpler) and work in a decentralized fashion (i.e without the need for a common root of trust).

Prior to joining Freie Universität Berlin, I was a Senior Research Scientist at Fuji Xerox's FX Palo Alto Laboratory (FXPAL), Chief Technology Officer of OGM Laboratory LLC in Omaha, Nebraska, and principal scientist and deputy department head in the security technology department at Fraunhofer Society Institute for Computer Graphics.
