Welcome to the research group Numerical methods for PDEs and numerical software!
The research group focuses on the development, analysis, and implementation of numerical methods for partial differential equations and the design and development of numerical software. We consider problems involving, e.g., geometric equations, nonsmooth nonlinearities, multi-scale problems. These challenging problems are tackled using techniques like adaptive finite elements, multi-level methods, nonsmooth optimization approaches, and multi-scale modeling. Since the efficient application of the developed method often requires nontrivial numerical software, we also work on the design and development of numerical software libraries with a special focus on flexible and clean interfaces without sacrificing efficiency.
