Topic of the software project in WS24/25: AI-Driven Solutions for Tackling Hate Speech in Social Media
Project language: English
Project start: 16.10.2024
In an increasingly digitalized world, the detection of hate speech and the analysis of used language is crucial. Hate speech can have serious effects on individuals and societies, understanding emerging expressions, topics, and linguistic styles used to express hate helps during identification and thus leads to better ways to mitigate it effectively. The software project will focus on dynamic hate speech detection. Machine learning, semantic technologies, and large language models (LLMs) will be used to analyse the constantly changing trends and patterns in digital communication. An application will be built, models trained, and data evaluated. A positive change in online communication is sought and the creation of a more tolerant and respectful digital environment is contributed to.
The project will be carried out in the form of a customer project with a real client. Bachelor and Master students will work together in mixed groups, either on independent projects or as part of a larger project in the field of AI technologies. Students will gain in-depth knowledge in the application of machine learning and natural language processing algorithms, develop their project management and teamwork skills, and apply best practices in software development of large distributed systems.
