Semira holds both a bachelors and a masters degree in mathematics from ETH Zürich. She did her masters thesis at the Applied Cryptography Group at ETHZ, where she studied error bounds for probabilistic primality tests, which are used in many public-key cryptography algorithms. After completion she continued to work there as a scientific assistant and did an internship in software engineering . In January 2022 she joined the Cybersecurity and AI group at Freie Universität Berlin as a Ph.D student and is now focusing on post-quantum cryptography
